Do you enjoy eating out? Exploring local restaurants where we live is one of my favorite things to do. I am sure that if you live in Pinecrest, you probably feel similarly on the subject. There is so much to go out and experience. Honestly, I never thought that I could turn it into anything other than my hobby, though.
Did you know that being a foodie can open up other opportunities, though? It’s true! There are a lot of ways that we can utilize our own interests to generate income for ourselves in the world of social media. If you have not heard about this, make sure that you stick around. I will be explaining it here!
What am I Alluding to?
Take a minute to scroll through a website like this one: https://www.tiktok.com/. What do you notice? There are many influencers on these platforms that are using their pages to work with companies to promote products and their image to their viewers. We call them brand ambassadors.
It is a job that celebrities have had for years, really. An easy example are the Kardashians and any of the organizations that they have represented over the years. For the sake of today, though, let us lower our scale a bit. If you are looking to become one, you are probably not at the level of fame of a famous celebrity family.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with that, and there are still plenty of opportunities out there for smaller influencers. They are not the same as the position that I am discussing, but most of them do hold platforms of some sort and have an audience of at least ten thousand followers.
What Makes for a Good One?
Let us keep working with the example that I started in the introduction. If you are a foodie who lives in Pinecrest, let us say that you like one particular restaurant that has a patio outside for customers to sit in. Maybe you post a picture on Instagram or some other social media website of you sitting there, and it gets a lot of engagement.
The restaurant might reach out to you and ask to partner with you to help promote their image and craft a positive reputation on social media for them. Essentially, you would become one of their brand ambassadors, and have a variety of responsibilities to carry out as such. What would make you an ideal candidate?
The first step is to cultivate an audience on your platform of choice. There are so many out there, and I am sure you have already heard of most of them (if not all of them) if you are interested in this topic in the first place. It can be a long road to reach that base line of ten thousand, but once you do, often it can lead to bigger and better things down the line!
So, what are some other good qualities to have? This is an excellent question, though it can be difficult to answer to some extent beyond the obvious of having an audience that responds to your posts. Beyond that, though, the most important thing is being a people person. What do I mean by this?
You should be able to connect with people and relate to them. Your messaging should reflect this – your followers should know that you are a warm and likeable person. That makes for a person that they are more likely to trust and respond to in terms of creating a positive brand image for your partner.
Other Considerations
You might be wondering what else there is to this. Thankfully, it is pretty simple once you get an initial grasp on it. Still, there are pages like this one that can help you to learn a bit more about it all. I find that reading multiple articles about something helps me to get a better perspective on it.
Before you dive into becoming a brand ambassador, you should definitely make sure that you are savvy with a variety of different social media pages. Most of them find more success if they are across multiple platforms rather than being limited to just one. So, consider familiarizing yourself with as many as you can.
In addition to that, you should just be good with technology in general. That is one of the big appeals for brands that decide to bring in influencers over celebrities. The familiarity with technology and their general approachability to consumers can be a bigger selling point, especially for smaller, more local businesses.
The example that I laid out for you in this article is a good one to remember if you are feeling lost on where to start. Try reaching out and see what happens!
