Becoming a parent is the luckiest experience for many people, although it can be exhausting. Who does not love a cute child? But it gets super hectic when they grow into toddlers and throw tantrums. Having a baby can be all fun and games and, at the same time, the new parents learn to be mature, to be supportive and give this society the best possibly trained human.
Let’s dig into the pros and cons of having a baby:
Pros of Having a Baby
- You learn to love and share
You must have noticed that one you are around a toddler, you are not behaving like you normally do. Not only that, but you are a mature person, caring and looking after that kid. Having a baby of your own is like starting a new chapter in your life. You will learn to be more mature, to share things with your kid.
Having a baby changes your life dramatically and for good. Now you are not thinking what is good for yourself and for your better half, you are thinking about your baby. Because that mini-human is now your responsibility.
You want to see this world a better place, because this is where your child is going to live and make progress. You start to care about others, about the surroundings, about the safety of your neighbourhood, the safety of your house. Your attitude changes positively.
- You are shaping the new generation
If you think about it, it is awesome how, after having a baby of your own, you have an individual from the future growing on your lap. He/ she could be the future president of your state, an ambassador, a painter, the best doctor and above all the best human.
You are going to leave a new yet upgraded version of yourself. Having a baby is like having a photocopy of your own self, but with better features and traits. If you have a bad habit, you will make sure, your child does not adopt that habit. In this way, you are giving this society the best human with the best qualities.
- Your baby will bring love and will strengthen your relationship
Your baby is a literal proof of your love with your partner, and it will further create a bond among you two. After having a baby, both of you will be focused on one goal and that will be, to do the best parenting in the world. A baby is a line of communication between you and your partner, and we promise, you will never get bored ever again in your house.
- Having a baby is like having a bundle of happiness
Everything about having a baby is exciting and joyful. Waiting for another life to be created inside another human’s body is crazy and awesome at the same time. It almost sounds like a miracle. Just think about all the things you get to do for your baby. From buying clothes for your baby the very first time to selecting a name for him/ her. From listening the good news to holding your baby first time in your arms, it’s overall a joyful and ecstatic experience.
Cons of Having a Baby
- They make your routines super busy and hectic
These days, when everyone already is living a busy life, having a baby can make things more challenging. First, the baby cannot speak for itself, so you will have to guess whether he/she is crying his/her lungs out because he/she is hungry, or needs to sleep or needs to get changed. Second, you won’t be able to have any time for yourself, you won’t be able to even enjoy your meal, because babies would cry a lot just to get your attention.
Third, when they learn to walk and start speaking, you will have to baby-proof your house. They will ask a lot of questions, even Google cannot help you. They will throw tantrums, they will get envious of other kids with toys or games. So, having a baby and then raising it is a full-time job with no leave.
Francis Bacon the best essayist and the father of English prose used to say
“HE that hath wife and children hath given hostages to fortune;”
Which simply means that those who have a wife and children are now on the mercy of their future/life. It means having a baby will add to your duties, and you may not be able to find time for your dream job or destination.
- Financial issues can occur
Having your little packet of happiness is expensive. From medical bills to buying strollers and toys for your baby, from buying clothes to buying food formulas for him/her, everything is expensive these days. Also, it’s your baby, you cannot just buy cheap things for him/her because cheap items, because of their low quality, can be harmful for your little human too.
So, having a baby will definitely add up to your budget.

- Some health hazards cannot be avoided
We do not mean to scare you, health issues can happen to anyone at anytime. But having a baby can become dangerous for the mother and specially for a new mother because her body and mind is not biologically and mentally used to it.
I would rank this con as the most critical one, as it comes to the value of the mom’s life. Sometimes, babies do not develop properly, they can be born with disabilities. New mothers often suffer from post-partum depression, it gets difficult for them to deal with the whole new emotional experience.
- Your relationships may get disturbed
If there are great chances of your relationship getting stronger after having a bay, there are chances you will face problems. Raising a child in these expensive times can be difficult. You will have to work hard, earn more. You will get busy with your life, your job and most importantly your baby. Likewise, you may not be able to spend time with your friends and family. So, things can get complicated in your household or with friends and family.
Final Words
We have discussed in detail about the pros and cons of having a baby. Although it sounds like a difficult experience, in our opinion, it is worth all the issues to have a smaller version of yourself that you get to raise and transform into a powerful and strong boy or a girl in the future.
